Many a times due to some reasons we lose all our songs in Ipod and its quite important to recover them back because you dont have an extra copy

download this software http://windirstat.info/ and install it then connect u r ipd and open it using this application clearly all your songs will be visible just click on the folder which has your songs and copy all those songs to desktop and put it back using itunes ;)
the above steps will work when you have not formatted your ipod
